Abstract:
A Central
Texas watershed (Friar’s Creek) near Temple has been selected to evaluate
rural/urban interfaces. Friar’s Creek is an urbanized watershed (approximate
area: 10 sq mi) where parts of the stream have been channelized to handle
increased runoff and erosion from urban development.
This watershed represents an opportunity to install and demonstrate
natural vegetation and wetland areas to help reduce runoff and erosion from
urbanized areas. The impact of the
project will affect 68 acres along the creek.
