Fort Hood Sights
The Fort Hood Military Reservation consists of 220,000 acres
located on the northern edge of the Edwards Plateau and west of the Balcones Escarpment. Plant communities are characterized as midgrass prairie, riparian and canyon systems.

Fort
Hood rangeland is managed by the Central Texas Cattlemen's Association (CTCA) as
a open range. Members of the CTCA are descendants of the land owners prior
to the establishment of Fort Hood.

Typical
land disturbance caused by military maneuvers. Removal of vegetation
allows erosion and sedimentation during large storm events.
