Water Quality Evaluation
To effectively measure water quality improvement for this CTCA project it is important to establish the water quality base line conditions prior to Phase Two clearing activities (pre-treatment period). To facilitate this BREC is proposing to initiate a water quality project to determine current conditions with in the targeted Leon River sub-watersheds. BREC will establish 2 storm water-sampling stations equipped with ISCO 4230 Flow meters, ISCO 3700 samplers and required supporting materials. These samplers will collect flow data, rainfall data and collect water samples during storm water events that will be used to establish the needed baseline water quality and quantity data. Routine grab sampling will be collected monthly at the water quality sampling sites and at other sites in the sub-watershed to determine normal water quality parameters for non-storm water conditions. Data obtained from grab samples will identify areas in the watersheds that may be sources of contamination. Additional monitoring/sampling, as required, will be in accordance with the Quality Assurance Project Plan prepared for this project.
